Kieu-Oanh (K-1) Nguyen, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist
I am a graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy School in Cambridge, Ontario in 2010. After graduated, I worked at Wellington Ortho & Rehab Associates; Guelph Sports Massage for about four years and ventured out on my own since 2015. Currently, I am the owner of K1 Massage Therapy Inc., and am the only therapist working on site.
I am trained in General Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage. During the school outreaches, I had experienced with sports massage, palliative care and multiple sclerosis. In my practice, I focus mainly deep tissue massage, although I can help with many conditions such as; stress, anxiety, depression, tension headache, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, arthritis, whiplash, carpal tunnel, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, ligament sprain, muscle strain/spasm and as well as general muscle aches and pain. Besides the above modalities, I am also trained in aesthetic, hydrotherapy, manual lymph drainage (MLD) and combined decongestive therapy (CDT). Nevertheless, I haven’t practiced much in hydrotherapy because that area required more spacing and equipment. Surprisingly, I had withdrawn myself out of aesthetic, MLD and CDT because I realized those techniques aren’t ergonomic for me. Therefore, to stretch the longevity of my RMT career, I had to eliminate them.
Naturally I am an introverted person. Listening to people talk has helped enhance my knowledges and life experiences. I have learned and gained so much from people. Therefore, I value every encounter because everyone is special and unique in their own way. I am always grateful to have such opportunistic to learn from all the greatest. Moreover, helping people is rewarding and helping people feel better is even more satisfying. I am not only enjoying my job but also contributing to the community at the same time. Believe it or not people often blessed me, especially my hands, because they don’t want me to breakdown and stop working. So, l feel blessed all the time! Perhaps, I will even live forever… People often said, I have magical hands. Frankly, I don’t. I can not heal every condition but I will always give you the best of what I have learned.
Honestly, Massage Therapy is a profession that has helped build my self-confidence as well as increase my interaction with the public in places I never thought I would be. I remember, I used to be uncomfortable touching people, let alone massaging them. However, after I learned the human anatomy, I had different perspective. I am no longer scared of the red human muscles pictures or the skeleton posters. I realized, I have learned to help relieve people’s pain. It is a wonderful act of contribution. Thereupon, I truly believe in the natural healing effect of massage therapy and its miracle of replacing medication. It is one of the best gifts you can give your body and I am very blessed to be a part of helping people feel better.
Formerly, I worked in a factory. The repetition of the assembly line gradually caused my body to ache, and massage therapy had quickly become my choice of health care to relieve pain and muscle tension. The thought of becoming a Registered Massage Therapist then came into my mind. The ability to provide excellent health care, to help others, and to increase their sense of well-being had inspired my dedication to study.
Because I believe so strongly in massage therapy, I am now a Massage Therapist. Thank-you for reading my bio and I look forward to see you in the clinic!
Best wishes to everyone!
